Thanks for stopping in, I am Leah and thats me in the photo with Uzi - when we got High Score at his last Schutzhund Trial. Basically this page will fill you in on my life -- dogs, horses, music and all ! READ ON!!
I am 33 years old and have grown up with German Shepherds. I have always loved to train and be around Shepherds. So I guess I was born in the right family (ha ha) !!
I train our dogs in Agility, Tracking , Obedience and Protection and I am training some for tricks for the movies. I have also titled Uzi where he took High Score in Trial! As well as titling some of our females. Our females have their pups in my room - so needless to say I am with every female when she has them! Always ready to give a helping hand if needed. I have put in many all nighters but there is nothing more rewarding!
I also have a sled team made up completely of German Shepherds! I think they love it more than me, when I get the harness out they get all excited and hope they are the ones that get to go that day! There is nothing more fun than being out in the woods with 6-8 of the most wonderful dogs in the world! They love to check out new trails, very smart dogs I have trained them to go anywhere off road by command. Enjoying a beautiful sunny day on the ranch !

-----Kira -------------------Me, Kira and Scarlett My Book I have been wanting to write a book for some time but finally last fall I got into full gear and wrote my first book - it's a book that takes you from the first 24 hours with your puppy through 30 days of obedience training and then when you can complete the pattern you can send in and get a Certificate of Achievement! It is truly a one of a kind book -- and it really works too. Everyone that has bought one has given me only positive feed back, which makes me feel very good!! Anyway, click here if you want to read more about my book or order it. Leah's Puppy Starting and Obedience Training Book
I have raised this Montana Bob Cat from 5 weeks old. I bottle fed her and that was fun till she started eating the bottle! I bought her from people that raise them for pets (you can't take them from the wild). Uzi and her chase each other around the house - they love to play - it is not often you see a cat chasing a dog !! She does tricks too - like jumping through a hoop - sitting up - begging for a treat, crawl, roll over, come, sit, down, stay - and she leads (which is a trick for a cat - ever tried to lead your cat ? ). She is a real sweetheart - her name is Scarlett O'Hara. (Update: Sadly Scarlett passed away due to old age at almost 14 years old)
-------Me & Knight (our stallion)-------Me and Chip ----------Sugar as a 2 year old
I also raise, train and show, registered Quarter Horses, which also is a family business. Right now I am training a black 3 year old filly out of our stallion and one of our top mares. We call her Sugar and she is coming along very very well and I am really looking forward to showing her this summer! I am also starting one of my black 2 year old geldings Midnight - he too is coming along very well and I will show him some this summer and maybe in a few fall Western Pleasure Futurites.
I am also going to continue showing my 6 year old mare. She is an outstanding mare and I have had the most fun training and showing her . In her first year of showing we won the Governors Cup and High Point Quarter Horse . That was a dream come true - plus we did it with only 2 points shy of a perfect score !! It is the biggest and most prestigious show on the Montana State Horse Show Circuit - we competed in english and western pleasure classes and halter to win that. Plus we also won High Point at 3 out of 4 MSHSA shows as well as getting Open AQHA Points in Hunter Under Saddle and Trail ! We're having another great year this year - winning many MQHA points and have lots of fun!
I love the spring time because the mares are getting ready to foal and each morning I go down to the arena and peek into their stall - knowing one morning their will be a cute little baby in there. We have been pretty lucky though and have been able to be with almost every one of our mares when they foal - which is pretty unusal because they usually go to great lengths to avoid having people around. This year we are expecting 3 babies. Check out our horse web site for lots of pictures of the horses and babies ! www.andersenquarterhorses.com
Clint is my 2 year old son and Heather is my almost 1 year old daughter. Being a mom is the greatest thing and I feel so lucky to be able to raise my "babies" it the same great enviroment I was raised in. And let them grow up with dogs, horses, nature and so much more. Go to my Adventures page to read more! Clint at almost one year - "The youngest Agility Trainer!" with Rhett Heather at 6 months with Rhett !
Me and my guitar-------------------That's me singing at one of our performances---------Me and Scarlett
I also have a Country - Rock and Roll and Pop band . I sing, write songs, play Piano/Keyboard, rythmn and lead guitar, drums and I also play bass sometimes because we like to switch instruments. We actually have a total show - with lots of action and audience involvment! We are having lots of fun and people really seem to like us. We did our first performance on July 5, 1999 - we opened for another (very well known !) band at the State Capitol building in Helena for it's Centennial celebration. Since then we have done some other performances... one at a Teen Dance - and one at a County Fair among other things. It is lots of fun ! We play mostly cover songs right now by Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Tanya Tucker, Tricia Yearwood, & MANY others ! I love writing songs and recently we have added a few of our own songs to our performances.
(Update : due to my young kids and no extra time left ;) My band is put on hold but I still LOVE playing music and it won't be long and I will have 2 new band members - probably Clint on the drums and Heather .... maybe on the piano - we will she what she likes! )
